Fumigation Services in Humble, TX
Whole-Structure Fumigation for Drywood Termites & Severe Infestations
Most pest problems respond to targeted, localized treatment. Some don’t. When an infestation has spread through multiple areas of a structure, or when the pest lives entirely inside the wood, whole-structure fumigation reaches what spot treatments can’t. At Bugtime Termite & Pest Control, we’ve been serving Humble, TX property owners since 1998. As a veteran-owned, family-operated business, we build every treatment plan around the specific pest and the specific property rather than defaulting to a one-size-fits-all protocol.
Whole-structure fumigation encloses a building in a sealed tent and introduces a fumigant gas that penetrates every crack, cavity, and gallery throughout the structure. It’s reserved for infestations where the scope or biology of the pest makes localized treatment insufficient.
If you’re seeing signs of a serious termite or bed bug infestation at your Humble property, call us at (281) 502-2673 or fill out our online contact form to schedule an inspection. We offer same-day and emergency appointments for urgent situations.
Which Termite Species Actually Require Fumigation
Not every termite problem calls for fumigation. The Humble area is home to several termite species, and the species determines the right treatment method.
Formosan and Eastern subterranean termites are among the most common here. They nest in soil and reach structures through mud tubes along foundations and walls. Because their colony is ground-based, a soil or liquid termiticide barrier applied around the foundation perimeter is the standard and effective approach for these species.
Drywood termites are different. They live entirely inside the wood they consume, with no soil contact and no mud tubes, so ground-based treatments can’t reach them. The Gulf Coast region, which includes Humble, sees a notable concentration of drywood termite activity. When a drywood infestation has spread beyond a single localized area, whole-structure fumigation is typically the treatment used to address the full extent of the problem.
What the Fumigation Process Involves
Structural fumigation in Texas is a regulated process with specific preparation, notification, and licensing requirements. Knowing what to expect before scheduling helps the project move forward without delays.
Preparing the Structure
Before treatment, certain items inside the structure need to be removed or properly stored, and exterior obstacles near the foundation, including fencing, decking, mulch, and plants, need to be cleared so the tent seals correctly. We walk through the full preparation checklist with you so nothing is missed.
The Treatment Itself
The structure is enclosed in a sealed tent, and the fumigant gas is introduced throughout the building, penetrating the wood cells and voids where wood-destroying insects are active. Occupants, including pets, must vacate during treatment. After the required exposure period, the structure is aerated before re-entry.
Texas Licensing & Notification Requirements
Texas regulations require structural fumigation to be performed under the direct on-site supervision of a certified applicator licensed in the structural fumigation category by the Texas Department of Agriculture’s Structural Pest Control Service. Certified applicators must complete fumigation training with hands-on instruction before earning that license. Regulations also require notifying local authorities prior to treatment and posting a durable notice on the structure identifying the applicator, the fumigant used, and the treatment date. Our team is fully licensed and insured, and we handle the required notifications as part of the job.
